MUSAN is a unique site in the Mediterranean Sea where you can see a large-scale sculpture by world-renowned artist Jason De Caires Taylor. In addition to the MUSAN art space and impressive sculptures, you can also enjoy the different marine life of the adjacent reef. MUSAN is located on the edge of a protected marine area, so you can expect to see everything from turtles to exotic fish and exotic sea urchins.

The artworks have been designed to attract marine life on a large scale and each piece will develop organically while being reclaimed by the sea. Some sculptures will float just beneath the surface so that the whole structure provides a complex environment for marine life at all levels.

1. Avoid touching the sculptures: The artworks within the museum have been intentionally placed to provide marine life with a habitat, as well as to be appreciated by visitors. Please refrain from touching them.
2. Follow the suggested route: To fully experience the narrative of the museum and minimize any potential harm to the artworks and marine life, it is recommended to follow the designated route throughout the museum.
3. Maintain a safe distance from tree sculptures: Ensure that you maintain a safe distance from the tree sculptures to preserve their integrity.
4. Maintain distance between buddy groups: For the safety and enjoyment of all visitors, it is important to maintain a safe distance between buddy groups while exploring the museum.
5. Consider your buoyancy skills: Divers with poor buoyancy skills are advised to stay below the tree canopy to prevent any accidental damage to the artwork.
6. No personal watercraft or motorized boats allowed: To protect the designated museum area, personal watercraft or motorized boats are not permitted within its boundaries.

Yes, for scuba diving at the museum, the visitors are required to be certified scuba divers (etc. NAUI , Open water Scuba diver, Padi / SSI / SDI / RAID Open water, CMAS 1 star or equivalent) by any of the internationally recognised certifying organizations (PADI, NAUI, CMAS, RAID, SSI, SDI or equivalent).

No certification is required; MUSAN is easily accessible to anyone in good physical condition, with just a 200-meter swim from the beach. However, it’s recommended to book with one of the local dive centres, primarily for safety reasons and secondly to fully experience MUSAN experience.

You will need to make arrangements with a diving centre and follow their policy regarding the equipment.

Yes, the underwater museum offers excellent visibility, allowing snorkelers to see up to 20 meters deep into the sea, where the sculptures are located.

Visitors at the museum can either be certified divers or enjoy snorkelling with masks and snorkels. To go scuba diving, you must be certified, but for snorkelling, you have the option to use your own equipment or, if you don’t have any, you can easily hire snorkelling gear.

No, there isn’t an entrance fee to visit the Underwater Museum. However, please note that diving schools may charge their own fees for snorkelling or scuba diving.
